In order to create the background that I desire, I have to use another editor since InDesign does not have the features needed to key out an image from a greenscreen; therefore, as for the dreamer's image standing in the U.S flag representing the world, I will be using Photoshop and then translating that background layer into InDesign. I thought I was not allowed to do that and was having a hard time trying to figure out what to do instead; however. I talked it out with my instructor and I am allowed to create this background layer in Photoshop due to the absence of features from InDesign. I can't even begin to tell you how many videos I have watched on this subject, but the ones that have helped me the most have been: I am incorporating both methods when keying the dreamers out of the picture; however, the dreamers are looking opaque and I am having difficulty getting the brightness adjusted just right but this is how is looking: I have battled so much with the U.S. flag's...

So it's been four days and I couldn't seem to find a Hispanic blanket! You know those things that you swear you have seen everywhere but you actually haven't? Well, that's how this rolled. I drove up to seven Hispanic restaurants and stores but nobody had one neither knew where to find them. There was a particular restaurant that I couldn't visit in particular because of my job schedule but I had to organize my priorities and I risked it. Surprisingly, the place that required me to take a risk had the reward: the Hispanic blanket. I ended up buying a carton white board to use as background since I wanted to create a contrast with the colors and this is how it went:  Finding the perfect way to fold to create the effect I was looking for was a challenge. I decided on the Hispanic blanket since it is something that forms part of many Hispanic cultures; therefore, more people will identify and feel represented through my magazine because it appeals to wider ethnicities....

Personally, I am not a good photographer; every time my friends ask me to take pictures of them to post in their social media usually takes time because the way I take them is not very accurate since there are different angles that you can take a shot to make you look different. A green screen photo shoot for my cover is actually the greatest idea I have ever had. Now, where on earth was I going to find one? I had to start moving quickly and that is when I got lucky again. Well, it results that, Flavio Bazan's dad, one of the dreamers I interviewed, runs a magazine. He owned a green screen and he didn't only gave me the green screen but the set up as well, which included the lighting and the stands. I also had a chat with him about strategies and what I had to keep in mind when editing and his knowledge based on his experience were very useful for me. The interview with Unidos Now went amazing, I got so much quality information from their program. The only thing I regret is not having the idea of audio taping before the interview, I tried to type as she was talking without realizing that I was not going to be able to type as fast to record everything she was saying so the interview was half typed and half audio recorded. I learned so much from Unidos Now and I am actually interested in their FLA (Future Leaders Academy) program myself, which I will be applying to, this is one of the ways this project has impacted my life, without it, I wouldn't have known of it.  Two weeks of winter break seems like the perfect time to get all the material I need to start editing: photoshoot, materials and interviews. Essential materials needed: - Green screen. - Hispanic blanket. This Monday I will contact the three dreamers. I already talked to Mrs. Durmaz this week, she is an ESOL teacher and told her about my magazine's idea and she loved it. She emailed Cintia Elenstar, who is the program director of Unidos Now, telling her about my idea, so I emailed her as well, she responded and we already have a date scheduled for the interview which will be executed through zoom. I am just really grateful that someone who is the director of such a great program, took time out of hers to meet with me and help me with something that means a lot.  The dreamers were a little hard to find around my community since I know Hispanics but not their immigration status, so I had to ask around, and actually, a Peruvian woman who does my hair had a son under the protecti...

My storyboarding experience was something that helped me visualize exact possible products in order to know that materials that I would need and or people in this case.  Cover page: I will start by saying that my cover's page idea was my favorite out of the four. I decided to base my article on "the dreamers" who are kids under the protection of DACA, which is something many immigrants are affected by in the U.S. and decided to interview three dreamers from my community; which is where this idea came from. These three dreamers standing over the U.S as if it was the world representing the american dream. As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, I am the type of person that creative ideas will come for at the end. Lastly, I decided for "Ojo" as my masthead since a word seemed more simple to understand than a phrase, it also connects with my selling line: "A vision through culture" and since "Ojo" means eye, it was a perfect match.  Content P...
